The virtuous local events eco-system

Helping councils and community focused venues deliver better events and support local businesses.

September 29, 2023

We always had the vision that the natural next step after making booking an event or function easy was to extend the online booking journey so the hirer can organise any catering, equipment or entertainment services they need.

If you book a venue for a children's party you probably need some entertainment. If you book a wedding you probably need a cake and a photographer. If you organise a 40th you might need a buffet, bar and a DJ, or a magician.

As well as making the life of the hirer easier, there is a real opportunity to promote local businesses and support the economy in the area.

A win-win-win for venue, hirer and supplier.

Introducing Switch Hub

Our friends at Rushcliffe Borough Council are focused on supporting and delivering for the community they serve.

Helping local suppliers by promoting them to offer services to the 1,000s of bookings they manage in their venues each year is something they see as really positive for everyone concerned.

We are currently recruiting local businesses to our new service, Switch Hub, so hirers can find the right supplier for their events.

Switch Hub will deliver a stack of benefits to all concerned and is a really positive way for community centric venue operators to give back through the services they provide.

Streamlined Planning for Hirers

Imagine you're organising a charity fundraiser at your local community centre. You need catering services, a bar, a photographer, and perhaps even a children's entertainer to keep the little ones engaged. Instead of spending hours scouring the internet or relying on word-of-mouth recommendations, you can turn to the online database of local businesses curated by your council or community venue. It's a one-stop-shop for all your event needs.

Supporting Local Businesses

Local businesses are the lifeblood of our communities. They bring character and vibrancy to our neighbourhoods. By directing event planners to these businesses, councils and community venues play a vital role in supporting local entrepreneurs. These businesses often provide unique and personalised services that can elevate any event.

Building Stronger Communities

When councils and community venues foster connections between event organisers and local businesses, they are actively contributing to the cohesion of their communities. They create a network where neighbours help neighbours, and everyone benefits. It encourages a sense of unity and solidarity that extends far beyond the event itself.

Sustainability and Eco-Friendly Choices

In today's world, sustainability is a top concern. Many people prioritise eco-friendly practices, from sourcing organic ingredients for catering to using energy-efficient equipment for photography. By promoting these businesses, councils and community venues indirectly encourage event organisers to make environmentally responsible choices, reducing the carbon footprint of events.

A Win-Win for Everyone

This virtuous ecosystem is a win-win for everyone involved. Event organisers benefit from the convenience of finding trusted local vendors with ease. Local businesses gain exposure and customers, helping them thrive. Communities strengthen their bonds through shared experiences and support for their own.
